THE TATTOO JOURNEY

Preparation · Ceremony · Aftercare

PREPARATION

Your skin is the canvas. Healthy, well-hydrated skin allows for a smoother tattooing process and supports stronger healing.

Ideally, begin preparing your skin 1 to 2 weeks before your appointment by considering the following:

  • Keep the area protected from strong sun exposure

  • Moisturise the area at least twice daily

  • Stay well hydrated

  • For harder-skinned areas (such as fingers, elbows, or knees), exfoliate gently several times in the lead-up

  • Prioritise rest in the days before your sitting

  • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine

  • Avoid strenuous exercise involving the area to be tattooed

Horoeka Rising Ceremony

Come with openness.

This is an invitation to arrive present, grounded, and ready to create in the moment.

I encourage you to:

  • Remain open to the creative process as it unfolds

  • Meet the experience with trust and connection

  • Be willing to journey inward

  • Bring nourishing food and plenty of hydration for your sitting

CEREMONY
AFTERCARE

Where possible, plan your tattoo so the days immediately following can be dedicated to rest and healing.

Most tattoos take 1 to 2 weeks to heal, with the first three days being the most important for care and protection.

During this time, please avoid:

  • Dusty or unclean environments

  • Submerging the tattoo in water (including swimming, baths, and saunas) for up to two weeks

  • Excessive sweating

  • Direct sunlight on the tattooed area

  • Friction or impact to the area

Full aftercare guidance will be given as we work together.
